Peels for a radiant skin

For those concerned with aging or damaged skin, modern skin care has a solution. With so many reasons to put your best face forward, there’s never been a better time to consider a face peel.

“Peels” include “a wide range of exfoliating procedures that produce a post-procedure peeling effect on the skin.” While their contents and intensity may vary, the ultimate goal of any peel is the removal of the skin’s outer layer of primarily dead cells and the stimulation of collagen and elastin to tighten and firm the healthy layer beneath. When performed properly, this procedure can effectively diminish the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, blemishes and more with little to no trauma to healthy skin cells.

A chemical peel involves the application of toxic chemical solutions to the skin in a controlled manner, producing controlled tissue death. The most common candidate for a chemical peel is a person with sun-damaged skin, uneven pigmentation, and/or actinic keratoses. If performed correctly in appropriate patients, the appearance of the treated skin will have a more youthful texture with a uniform coloration that will blend with their untreated skin.

One of the forms of such peel is glycolic peel. It can reduce fine lines, soften rough skin, dry out blemishes, and lighten irregular pigmentation. There are natural fruit acids in a glycolic peel that can help to unclog pores and remove dead skin. The treatment permeates skin layers to break up the melanin cells and restore even skin tone.
